If you visited the blog last week you will have seen Indi’s 5th Birthday Celebration.  As with my signature style I kept everything simple with a few pops of colour and the backdrop I created for this party was no different.

All you need is some of your favourite coloured wash tape and a pair of scissors.  The idea for this really came as I was decorating the bottles the day before the party.

I wanted to add a little colour to the mini bottles and washi tape is always my favourite thing to use.  After finishing the little crosses on the bottles I thought it would add a little pop to the background by doing something similar.  I kept the colour the same and ended up with a simple washi tape backdrop for my table.

I also used the washi tape to stick on the favour bag tags – I stamped Indi’s name on to the tag and stuck them on glassine bags.IMG_3878_w

As well as a great way to hold your spoon on the mini pot and decorate the straw holder.indi002

I mentioned yesterday that I attended the Natvia Cupcake Masterclass a few weeks ago but what I didn’t mention was that they also have this amazing sugar free hot chocolate mixture!

Just like a regular drinking chocolate it is perfect when you want that warm tasty drink but don’t want the calories or importantly any added sugar!

My girls love it hot or cold and for once I don’t feel so guilty say “yes”.  We are currently mixing it up between Banana Smoothies and hot chocolates with breakfast these days and Sofia my 8 year old (and my fussy sweet tooth) just loves this chocolate mix either hot or cold.  This morning with breakfast it was hot – perfect on our chilly mornings we are still having.

With the arrival of Spring I am really excited to launch a month of fun new projects on the blog.  This September I have decided to focus my recipe posts a little differently – more in line with how I live my own life.  I have been living sugar free for some months now after a number of Universe speaking to me moments and a good kick in the butt to get my eating back on track.  I am also working on my kids and slowly getting their eating right – I know there are still parties that we go to (and parties we hold in our house) but for the most part we are now a sugar free household!

With all these changes in my life I thought it would be great to have a month here on the blog where I showed great low-sugar or no sugar recipes – a number of them are perfect for parties and celebrations as well as being great for lunch boxes.    I have been investigating all the options for replacements to refined sugar and there are so many great things you can do.  We definitely still need to eat sweet food in moderation but how good it is that there are options for low or no sugar party food.

So let me now introduce to you a product that I had the pleasure of find out about a few weeks ago called Natvia.  The Nativia team invited me along to a Masterclass at The Classic Cupcake Co in Mosman where the lovely owner and baker extrodinaire Anna showed us how to bake a sugar free cupcakes using the Nativa products.

Natvia is a 100% natural product that uses the stevia plant, combined with the naturally occurring nectar known as Erythritol. An all natural sweetener that you can add to your baking or drinks.

There were 6 of us there to learn Anna’s secrets and let me tell you she bakes a mean cupcake!  The flavour we made was Berry Choc Mud Cupcakes – visit the Natvia website here to join their Sweetlife Club and find hundreds of these great recipes.  Anna also runs wonderful classes to help you bake these very sugar free cupcakes – her next two masterclasses are being held in September and if you enter the code natvia at checkout you can receive a $20 discount.  Find The Class Cupcake Co here.

Here are the photos from our evening at The Classic Cupcake Co trying the Natvia Products!

I thought it was about time I posted a few photos from Indi’s 5th Birthday celebration that was back in June.

We seemed to have a bit of a continuing theme with Sprinkles for this birthday – something we started last year when she turned 4 (you can see that party here).

The main inspiration for the party started with a cake I spotted on Pinterest – I asked Liv from Jack + Hunter to create her version of the cake and the other desserts I created from there.  As well as the cake we had giant marshmallows dipped in sprinkles, mini pots of yogurt with sprinkles.

Just a few simple details, lots of white with pops of colour and my perfect party was created! Enjoy!

Have you found a Fathers Day gift for you dad, grandpa or husband yet?  Is he a surfer, a car lover or a foodie?

I am still deciding on the final purchase for the man in our house but in the meantime please check out these amazing finds which Fiona from Fiona Kate Simply Gorgeous helped me to curate – they are a combination of both of our favourite things!  Two of these great items come as free printables (the car desktop wallpaper and the food tags) so please click on their links to find them!
